Society is a bitter pill

Have you ever just wanted to break all the mirrors in your house because you simply can't stand looking at yourself anymore? But you know it's useless, because it's everyone else's opinions that hurt the most... and they don't need a mirror to see you. Which is ridiculous, our society has developed such a pattern of mainstream thinking that we find specific items, and we idolise them! And then all of the sudden: you have to have the nicest jeans, or the cutest purse, or say the newest thing so that it catches on. You have to be skinny, you have to buy this, wear this, say that, be on his side, her side, be neutral, have white teeth, have straight teeth, your hair can't be frizzy, you can't wear that because no one wears THAT anymore. You have to go to parties, be friends with everyone, trust no one, pose like this, smile like that, tilt your head this way and put your hand on your hip, because that's just the way things are. And I must ask, why do we give a shit?! Buying these things and acting this way... it doesn't make us happy. Why must everything be so damn complicated? I don't understand how this sort of life makes sense to people. I don't understand how you can smile all day long but cry yourself to sleep at night. How pictures never change but the people in them do. How your best friend can become your worst enemy, or how strange it is when your worst enemy becomes your best friend. How forever turns into a few short months that you'd give anything to get back. I don't get how you can let go of something you once said you couldn't live without. How even though you know something is best for you, it hurts anyway. How people who once wanted to spend every second of their time with you, think a few minutes is too much to spare. How people continue to make promises despite how common it is for promises to be broken. How people can choose to erase you from their lives completely because it's easier than putting forth the effort to work things out.... Sorry, that took a turn for the deep and sensitive, haha. But think about how you live your daily life, not your life plan, but just your average day to day life. Got a mental picture? If so, great; if not, that's nice too. I don't particularly care. But just think, wouldn't it be perfect if sweatpants were sexy, monday mornings were fun, junk food didn't make you fat, girls didn't cause drama, boys weren't so confusing, nothing was regrettable, friendships didn't fade and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow? I wish all of the standards of how to act and behave (materialistically thinking) would just cease to exist, because frankly dear readers... I don't give a damn.
